Solution: Experience Builders worked with social
service agencies, university professors and community leaders
to design a learning-by-doing approach to teach these things.
In this simulation, learners were placed in the role of a leader
of a community group seeking grant money for its community. The
learner had to analyze community needs from census data and other
sources then craft a proposal that was not only well targeted,
but also well presented.
Results: Learners enhanced their ability to
prioritize spending and needs, and they were better able to articulate
their cases.
