HIGH QUALITY/LOW COST
Challenge: Production Efficiency
Building simulations took a lot of time and energy from many
different people. Designers created scoping documents. Content
developers created content in text documents. Programmers wrote
code and created prototypes. Each group did their work in a different
program or document and forwarded it on to the next. As work got
translated from one form to another, delays and miscues occurred.
There was no systematic way for the project as a whole to effectively
reuse information, so each project had to reinvent each wheel.
This resulted in a lot of rework, and created an even bigger nightmare
when changes needed to be made - not only did authors have to
make the change, but they had to hunt down every instance where
it occurred.

EB’s Solution: EB addressed these production
inefficiencies by developing a sophisticated, web-based environment
that allows instructional designers, content developers, subject
matter experts, and trainers to work together on the project.
There is no translation from one form to the other. There are no
programmers required. EB’s tool captures scoping, content,
and code. Prototypes can be built frequently, simply by pressing a button.
Content is captured in databases to make refinement simple, and to enable
authors to re-use content (such as coaching) freely. Plus, the tool
incorporates an efficient production methodology that ensures the right
decisions are made at the right time. This eliminates the need for re-work.
